Professional Experience & Impact
Shayla has extensive experience supporting students through rigorous academic pathways, including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Dual Credit programs. She has a particular passion for working with international students and helping them successfully navigate both academic systems and the college admissions process.
Known for her relationship-driven approach, Shayla prioritizes understanding each student’s “why,” empowering them to make confident, values-aligned decisions about their future. Her ability to connect with both students and families allows her to guide them through the admissions journey with clarity and trust.
Her personal experience further strengthens her advising perspective. As a mother of two, she has firsthand experience navigating the college process with students pursuing very different paths: one attending the United States Air Force Academy and entering a medical career in the Air Force, and the other attending the University of San Diego in a liberal arts environment. This dual perspective reinforces her belief in helping students identify their unique strengths and best-fit pathways.
Leadership & Perspective
As the daughter of a military family, Shayla grew up moving frequently, developing adaptability, resilience, and a global perspective. She brings this lens into her work, helping students confidently navigate change, build community, and thrive in new environments.
