As a military brat, Shayla moved around every few years and learned to plant roots and find her place in each new environment. It has opened her world and provided her a more global perspective. With these personal experiences she is able to help her scholars adapt to change and find opportunities to get involved and thrive while in high school.
As a mother of two adult children, Shayla survived the college application process and enjoys sharing her experiences and lessons learned. Her son attended the United States Air Force Academy, and continued with the medical pathway, now serving as a doctor in the Air Force. Her daughter attended the University of San Diego and benefited from a small college setting. One STEM and one Liberal Arts, there is value in helping kids identify their strengths and gifts and then empowering them to go and share with others.
As an empty nester with a recently retired husband, she enjoys the simple things; good food, hiking, traveling and the outdoors. Most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
