Professional Experience
Lisa began her career with the National College Advising Corps (AmeriCorps), where she completed intensive advising training before serving as the sole college adviser at a large public high school. In this role, she increased both college-going and financial aid completion rates through high-touch advising and by building a strong college-going culture. She later trained incoming advisers, equipping them with best practices in application strategy and student support.
She expanded her impact at Genesys Works, a national nonprofit focused on college and career readiness. As a Program Coordinator, she advised students through corporate internships and the full college application process, while also developing a comprehensive college and career curriculum delivered through workshops and one-on-one advising. After being promoted to Program Manager, she led a team and oversaw an intensive summer training program serving 150 students annually, preparing them for competitive internships in business, engineering, and IT.
Lisa has also presented at the TACAC Conference on “The Case for Test Optional,” reflecting her knowledge of evolving admissions trends and policies.
Lisa specializes in advising students pursuing competitive STEM pathways, including engineering, computer science, and other quantitative fields. She helps students strategically position themselves for highly selective universities such as Purdue University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and The University of Texas at Austin.
Her background in both college advising and workforce development allows her to guide students beyond academics, helping them build meaningful experiences, develop real-world skills, and craft compelling application narratives.
Lisa takes a thoughtful, student-centered approach, helping each student identify their strengths, interests, and long-term goals. She combines strategic planning with authentic self-discovery, ensuring students and families move through the admissions process with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
