What services does Access College America provide to families?

We’re here to walk alongside your family during what can feel like an overwhelming time. Our team provides personalized college planning that takes the guesswork out of the admissions process. We help with everything from creating a strategic application plan to reviewing essays, managing deadlines, and navigating financial aid. Think of us as your family’s college planning partner–we handle the logistics while you focus on supporting your student. We also assist with school selection (because fit matters more than rankings!), interview prep, and scholarship searches. Every family gets individual attention because we know that what works for your neighbor’s kid might not work for yours.

How successful are Access College America scholars?

Very successful.  Our scholars consistently beat the odds. For the Class of 2025, our senior scholars averaged 5 college offers per student, achieved a 100% college fit rate, and secured over $10 million in scholarships.

When should we start working with a college consultant?

Honestly, there’s no “wrong” time to start, though we love working with families beginning in the sophomore years when we can dig into long-term planning. That said, we completely understand that many parents don’t realize they need support until junior year, and suddenly everything feels urgent. Don’t worry–we’ve helped plenty of families who came to us in their senior year feeling panicked, and those scholars still achieved wonderful outcomes. Starting early gives us more time to strategize and plan, but our team is skilled at creating effective timelines no matter when you join us. The most important thing is that you’re here now, ready to get the support your family deserves.

What is your college consulting process like?

We start by getting to know your student–really getting to know them. What makes them tick? What are their dreams, their strengths, maybe their secret worries about college? We also want to understand your family’s priorities and concerns. From there, we create a personalized roadmap that doesn’t feel overwhelming. We believe in regular check-ins because we know how quickly things can change during high school. You’ll never feel like you’re navigating this alone–we’re proactive about reaching out, sending reminders, and making sure everyone feels confident about next steps. Our approach is collaborative, and we encourage scholars to own the process and be accountable.

How do you help students find the right college fit?

This is where we get excited! Finding the right fit goes so much deeper than looking at rankings or choosing the school with the prettiest campus (though we won’t lie–a beautiful campus doesn’t hurt). We spend time understanding how your student learns best, what kind of environment helps them thrive, and which school will provide the best program for their intended major. Weconsider everything from class sizes to campus culture, from research opportunities to whether they need a school where they can continue playing their sport. Our goal is to help your student find places where they’ll genuinely flourish–academically, socially, and personally. Sometimes the perfect fit is a school you’ve never heard of, and that’s perfectly wonderful.

What qualifications do your counselors have?

Our team brings both professional credentials and real-world experience to every family we work with. We maintain professional certifications and stay active in organizations like NACAC because the college landscape changes constantly. But beyond the credentials, what we’re most proud of is our track record of genuinely caring about each family’s success. We’re not just checking boxes–we’re invested in helping your student find their path. Our experience shows in the relationships we build and the outcomes our families achieve.

How do you assist with scholarships and college affordability?

Let’s be honest–college costs can keep parents awake at night. We get it, and we’re here to help you navigate this complex landscape with confidence. We’ll show you where to look for scholarships and explain everything in plain English. More importantly, we help you understand strategies for maximizing aid eligibility and identify schools that might offer merit scholarships for your student. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions that balance getting a greateducation with while keeping debt tolerance and return on investment in mind.

Can you help with college applications and essay writing?

Yes! Absolutely, and this is one of our favorite parts of the process! We help students find their authentic voice and tell their story in a way that’s genuinely compelling. We’re not here to write essays for your student–that wouldn’t be fair to them or to colleges. Instead, we guide them through brainstorming, help them structure their thoughts, and provide detailed feedback that helps them shine. We want admissions officers to meet the real person behind the application. We also help with all those other application pieces that can feel overwhelming–activity lists, additional information sections, and short-answer questions. The goal is always to help your student present their best, most authentic self.

Where are Access College America's consultants located?

We have spent 9 years serving as a leading college consulting agency for families in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, Texas. We also proudly serve scholars in Los Angeles and nationwide through our seamless virtual consulting and Flex Prep options.

How do you communicate with families throughout the process?

Communication is everything, and we take it seriously. Each family will work one-on-one with a consultant who becomes genuinely invested in your student’s success. We schedule regular check-ins, but we’re also available when questions pop up (and they always do!). We send strategy session updates after each meeting, so you always know what action items your scholar is working on. Our communication style is professional but personal–we understand that this process can be stressful, and we want you to feel supported. We also provide resources you can reference on your own time, so you have information when you need it.

What kind of results do your students typically achieve?

Our students consistently find colleges where they truly belong and thrive. While some do gain admission to highly selective schools, we measure success differently–we care about whether students end up somewhere they’re genuinely excited to attend. Our families regularly tell us that our guidance made the entire process less stressful and more manageable. Students feel confident and prepared, and parents feel like they made informed decisions. We’re also proud that our students frequently receive merit scholarships and financial aid packages that make their college dreams more affordable. But honestly, our favorite success stories are the updates we get from students who are loving their college experience.

How do we get started with Access College America?

Getting started is as simple as having a conversation. We recommend beginning with a DISCOVERY CALL where we can learn about your student and discuss how we might be able to help your family. There’s no pressure–this initial meeting is about making sure we’re a good fit for each other. We’ll assess where you are in the process, talk about timeline considerations, and explain our approach in detail. You can schedule this session through our website. We’ll also share information about our different service options and help you determine what makes the most sense for your family’s needs and timeline.

Who is the ideal candidate for Access College America's programs?

Our programs are designed for ambitious high school scholars (grades 9 through 12) looking to gain a competitive edge in the college admissions process. While we support students pursuing a wide variety of academic paths, we have a specialized niche focus on scholars applying for highly competitive STEM majors and Pre-Professional tracks.

Do you work with students who have learning differences or special circumstances?

Of course! We have extensive experience working with students who have learning differences or other unique circumstances that might impact their college planning. We understand the additional considerations these students face, and we’re skilled at identifying colleges with strong support services and inclusive environments. Students deserve to attend a college where they can succeed, and we’re committed to providing the specialized guidance that makes this possible. We’ve seen amazing outcomes for students with all kinds of learning profiles, and we’d love to help your family, too.
